Definitions
Member: A Member is defined as the male guardian responsible for their family. In the case of no male guardian, the member will be the female guardian. As children come of age, they will transition from a family member to a full member. In this instance a male member will be aged 18 and above and female members will be aged 25 or when they are married – whichever comes first. If a spouse is widowed due to the death of the Member, then the spouse becomes the Member.
Family Member: A person who is related to the Member as a spouse or child. For Members with guardianships, the children under their guardianship will be classed as a Family Member, whatever the relationship to the child.
Elderly Member: Persons over the age of 65 will be classified as an Elderly Member only for the purposes of joining Sylhet Funeral Committee. Elderly members will pay a one-off joining fee and have no annual membership fee to pay.
